The weakness of our witness is in the absence of evidence – Evangelist Isaac Omolehin.

For some time now I have been wondering how possible it is to effectively witness about Jesus’ death and resurrection in today’s world without the power of the HolySpirit?

We were not there when Jesus was nailed to the cross.

Neither were we there when he resurrected.

When he walked the face of the earth, we were not here.

If everything we know comes from what we read in the Bible or from other sources, how can we truly be witnesses?

The disciples who were physically with Jesus and witnessed His life on earth needed the baptism of the HolyGhost fire and power to qualify to become witnesses! (Acts 1:8)

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

If they needed the fire and power of the HolySpirit at their time to be able to proclaim the gospel boldly and powerfully, then we need more power in our time, as we are faced with a lot of threats.

Queen’s English will not win souls to Christ. All human strategies we can deploy, including branding and charitable acts, cannot draw men to genuine repentance and bring about the revival of righteousness, that is born of the Spirit!

How we need to humble ourselves and persistently cry out to God in prayers until we are filled with the fire and power of the HolySpirit.

Acts 4:29-32

29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

We need to follow the steps of the apostles here and seek the Lord till He empowers us to be an effective witness.

Jesus in John 4:48 said they will not believe unless they see signs and experience the power of God. If we lack the power and presence of God, our claim that Jesus is alive, that Jesus can heal, save, and redeem their souls will seem to be a lie.

We cannot preach Jesus with just a textbook, or theoretical knowledge of Him, we need to have a personal encounter with His Person.

A witness has seen something with his eyes, heard something, touched something, handled something, experienced something, and can declare to others what happened…if we have not experienced Jesus beyond our mental knowledge, how do we declare the gospel with power?

1 John 1:1-3

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

May our lives always give glory to God, bless humanity, and be a holy preparation for eternity with Jesus!
